LOCAL ASSISTANCE
The Local Assistance Department works closely with local governments, organizations, and businesses on a wide variety of projects that improve the quality of life in our communities. Through the Local Assistance Department, the COG provides technical assistance to communities in the areas of planning, infrastructure, transportation, housing, grant-writing, recreation, ordinances, zoning, economic development, and other community and county projects. The COG also provides the Iowa Waste Exchange service, which provides Iowa industries with smart waste management alternatives and helps reduce waste into Iowa landfills. Planning & technical assistance to communities are the services for which the COG was founded, and the assistance we provide continues to change as do the needs of those we serve.
